What is a Domain?
A domain or domain name is the address of the resource that users will enter when accessing a website. The domain is the name and address of websites on the internet. Without this address, internet users cannot visit websites. The domain is a simplified and word-based form of the numbering system used by computers, known as the IP address, to recognize each other. Without knowing the IP addresses of websites, it would be difficult for users to access them, so having a domain makes it easier to remember the site.

A domain is a name registered with words or numbers on the internet. Websites must have a domain, meaning they must have an address. Without a domain, websites can only function through IP addresses.

The domain is used to describe a resource hosted on the internet in a simplified form. To access a website or resource on the internet, we must know its IP address. Every computer connected to the internet has an IP address, similar to how each mobile device in a mobile network has its own number. Just like we don’t memorize phone numbers to call someone but use the address book in our phones, domains are the names linked to the server's IP. When we type the domain name in the browser's address bar, we are connecting to the server and viewing the website or web resource.

Domains can be bought for a minimum of 1 year and a maximum of 10 years. The domain can be made up of at least 2 and at most 63 characters. Only letters, numbers, and the "-" symbol are used in domains.

According to international agreements, each country has been assigned a top-level domain that indicates the website's affiliation to that country, such as .az, .ru, .by, .uk, .ua, .fr, etc. Additionally, there are several top-level domains based on the website's activity, such as .gov (government), .com (commercial), .edu (education), and others. The second-level domain is the website's name. To acquire a domain, you need to contact the authorized organization, the domain registrar.
